Category:Glock pistols versus Category:Glock
[edit]I assume the former is for image so the actual guns made by the company Glock Ges.m.b.H. Whereas Category:Glock is for the company. That's usually how things are categorized on here. It would be cool if you didn't just arbitrarily up-merged or rename categories based on Wikipedia articles or your own personal opinions of what sounds better. Otherwise your just going to get reverted and run into other issues. Category names usually follow certain standards that are well established and can't just be arbitrarily changed on a per category basis for no reason. Do a CfD next time. But please stop renaming categories without discussion or looking to see if there's been one about it already. Otherwise your just everyone's time, including your own. Thanks. London Heathrow Airport
[edit]Why did you feel the need to change London Heathrow Airport cats to Heathrow Airport? London Heathrow Airport has been the long-standing name for the airport and is consistent with the cats for London Gatwick, London Luton etc. There was no discussion about this considering it is such a massive change to categorisation for the airport. I would request that you revert your changes to London Heathrow Airport and desist using the Heathrow Airport categorisation. Ardfern (talk) 22:05, 25 April 2025 (UTC)
- It also means that every single aircraft image for the airport will have to be amended from London Heathrow Airport to Heathrow Airport and there are many thousands of these. This change is unnecessary and is going to cause a huge volume of unnecessary work. I don't think you have fully considered the implications and I would ask that you desist forthwith. Thanks for correcting me, but at the end of the day, Gibraltar is neither a country — it is more exactly a dependent territory. Perhaps it is better to create an intermediate category like Police automobiles in the British Overseas Territories (as I also remembered there are some relevant photos from the Falklands), but what should be the parent category for such category?廣九直通車 (talk) 14:13, 19 May 2026 (UTC)
Police cars by county
[edit]Hey, I'm not sure how helpful it is to separate out police vehicles by county as well as by police force. I'm not sure what advantage there is to having separate categories for (eg) East and West Sussex when both are covered by the same police force, or (eg) Kent or Dorset where the force's patch is the same as the ceremonial county. I suppose there will be outliers for cross-border operations or displays like File:Emergency Services Day at Amberley Museum 2026 14.jpg (ex-Kent vehicle in West Sussex) but I'm not sure there are enough photos of that to be worth having a duplicate category tree. - Hi, I see your point but there are many forces that span more than one county (West Mercia etc) and also some national police forces like the BTP. With the proposed merger of police forces in the future, I can imagine there being even more of a need to sort images by county. Elshad (talk) 17:19, 13 July 2026 (UTC)
