As part of his efforts to drain the swamp and save the taxpayers money, President Donald Trump has created the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), a new advisory board tasked with identifying areas of government that could use a trim. These areas are many. And with a national debt exceeding $36 trillion, reducing wasteful and downright destructive spending is crucial to heading off complete financial disaster.<\/p>\n

Chaired by Elon Musk, the DOGE aims to cut at least $2 trillion in federal spending. This will involve massive reforms to various government departments, and maybe even eliminating some entirely. Until recently, many Americans didn\u2019t even know that some of these agencies existed, much less what they do. This has led to some hyperbolic doom mongering about what might happen if DOGE does its job.<\/p>\n
