What exactly does me buying/having a gun(s) do for the defense of the country? Is this some implication that if every American citizen owned a gun then we could essentially be our own nation’s defense? Even though I do not agree with the military being spread (thinly) across 70+ nations worldwide, I do understand that some of those locations are strategic necessities to effectively project power. We also have to keep in mind that if we don’t occupy certain countries then we open the door for enemies, terrorists, and potential enemies to occupy those areas on the chess board or to even strengthen their capabilities. Not a bad write-up but definitely a little over the top.

Like it or not evil exists in the world and the actors perpetrating the evil would like nothing more than the US to withdraw from the world stage so they can control the masses. If you can get the rest of the world to adopt your strict libertarian view of defense maybe you have a chance with out it, the US can not pull back and abdicate it’s responsibility to the people of the world and most importantly our allies.
